Due to the recent COVID-19 outbreak, many of us have been trapped inside of our houses with little to do. Gyms were and still are closed as well as other places. Some of us got too comfortable during the quarantine and may have put on a few more pounds than we would’ve liked. Lucky for you these are 5 ways to easily get back into shape.
Drown Out the Distractions
In our world today there are so many distractions that lead us to put things off and procrastinate. Whether it’s social media or our work schedules, things usually end up getting in the way of our paths to success. The most important step to shedding extra weight is to get rid of distractions. It’s important to understand that you actually have a lot more time than you think you have. Whether it’s waking up earlier than usual or timing your day out to get a quick workout in, your time can always be adjusted.
Focus On Yourself
Another way to get back into shape is to focus on yourself. Sometimes in order to get what you want you have to be selfish, in a good way. By being selfish I mean focusing on yourself. Weight loss is a personal battle and there’s nothing anyone can do to make you lose weight.
Another key part of focusing on yourself is by being mindful of what you put in your body. “80 percent of weight-loss is based on diet and 20 percent is based on physical activity.” Stop eating processed foods that leave you feeling tired and eat more natural foods like fruits, vegetables, and grains. Your body will definitely thank you later.
Shape Your Environment
Even though gyms are closed for the moment, there are many other ways to get into shape. Here are a couple listed below:
- Take the stairs rather than the elevator
- Walk or run in your neighborhood
- Do in-home workouts to keep yourself moving
- Exercise at a local park
- Play with your dog
- Grab a jump rope
- Purchase personal exercise equipment
The only way to actually get into shape is to be consistent. So many people start off strong the first week but end up stopping by week 2 or 3. You cannot lose weight without consistency. The best way to be consistent is by planning workouts and meals ahead of time. By doing this you are creating a habit for yourself. It may seem hard on day 1 or 2 but if you stick it out you will definitely see results.
Track Your Progress
It is so important to track your progress. Whether its photos, videos, or just notes you should definitely find the best ways to visually track your progress. The great thing about tracking your progress is that you get to see your initial starting point. Once that is established, you can see where you need improvement and push yourself to exceed new goals. It is a personal battle and it is only one that you can conquer.
